Hair breakage: Causes and Repair

    In most cases, hair breakage is temporary, and people can repair their hair and restore its strength by using products and home remedies.What is the cause?

    Frequently using heat on the hair can damage the hair shafts and remove the moisture from the hair, which can cause brittle hair and hair breakage.

  • brushing hair gently, and just enough to style it
  • keeping extensions or weaves in for only 2–3 months at a time
  • eating a balanced diet to ensure the hair is getting all the nutrients it needs

A healthy, balanced diet is the first step, says  a  doctor . “If your body does not get enough nutrients, your hair will become weak, leading to hair loss,” she says.

Her first recommendation is soy, which gives you iron and vitamin E. “Iron is important for haemoglobin, which brings oxygen to the scalp. You hair cannot grow without this. Vitamin E increases blood circulation in the scalp,” she says.

Almonds enrich the scalp with vegetable protein. Fish gives it omega-3 fatty acids. Oranges supplies your body with vitamin C, which helps in the absorption of collagen. Then there are chickpeas, which have zinc and vitamin B6. “Zinc is necessary for the absorption of the many vitamins. Lack of zinc can lead to dandruff, which causes the hair to fall.”
